Cut Your Monthly Grocery Bill with Angel Food Ministries

angelfood Ever since a coworker first told me about Angel Food Ministries a few years ago I have been a huge fan.  This program caters to people who are on a budget and allows them to get a great assortment of good quality food for a low price.  When I first heard about Angel Food I thought it was intended for people on government assistance and though I’m not rich by any stretch, I’d hardly qualify.  Boy, was I wrong!

The Angelfood Ministries program is for anyone.  There are no restrictions and no limitations on who may participate.  After over a year of not participating in the program I placed my first order, the standard box offering for November 2009 that includes:

3 8 oz ribeyes
4 4 oz boneless center-cut pork chops
2 lb frozen chicken fried rice meal
22 oz lasagna with meat sauce
5 count breaded fish filets
1 lb lean ground beef
1.5 lb frozen breaded chicken breasts
1 lb frozen zucchini
1 lb frozen cauliflower
1 lb frozen broccoli
1 lb frozen hash browns
8 oz cereal
2 lb onions
1 shelf-stable milk
1 dozen eggs
1 dessert

The cost for all of this was $30.00 and I simply go to a specified location (usually a church) to pick up my prepaid order on the dated and time provided by the location.

2010 January 4

I just tried Angel Food Ministries for the first time in December, 2009 and I could not agree with you more. Food was better than I expected, and I am actually eating more fruits & veggies! I ordered the fresh fruit & veggie package ($22) in addition to the Signature box. I placed my second order for January. :)
