Coupons at Kroger Shopping Trip: 02/01/10

Kroger February 1, 2010

I wanted to use today’s trip to Kroger as an example of how anyone can save big money on their grocery bill if they just spend a little time getting organized before heading out to the store.  It all proves what I have said for years – coupons are free money.

In this case I had already done my weekly shopping (at Publix) and only made the trip to Kroger to take advantage of sales on stock up items.  As you can see from the photo above, I purchased a total of 11 items as follows:

Kroger is currently having a special sale where you purchase 10 items from a list and automatically have $5.00 deducted from your bill.  This sale can be used in tandem with manufacturer’s coupons and e-coupons.  Again, you can use all three – sales, paper coupons and e-coupons at the same time, on the same item.

It is also important to note that Kroger doubles coupons up to $.50, as do many grocers around the country.

IMPORTANT NOTE:  I know that some naysayers are going to tell me that they don’t get the newspaper so they don’t get coupons and to them I have only one thing to say – POPPYCOCK!  I knew this would be someone’s argument so every coupon I used for this transaction was printed from an online source or I found it on the shelves at the store.

Those ads you see on the left and right of this website are here for a reason!  Every coupon except for one came from the links on the right to Coupons.com.  They can save you money, but only if you click on them.

I can’t find the Philly Cream Cheese and Rotel coupons. :(

I’m sorry, I should have been clearer. The Rotel coupon was from one of the dispensers inside the store. I have found the same one on the shelf at both Publix and Kroger in the past two weeks.

The Philadelphia Cream Cheese was my “extra” this trip. That means it was the only item I bought that I didn’t have a coupon for. I had to buy 10 times from the special list, and since they were on sale for $.99 (down from $1.79), I grabbed two to make my 10.

ok, thanks for the heads up. I notice the 10 items stickers last time I was there, but wasn’t buying that much so I didn’t really pay attention.

I’m printing off coupons and will try to catch some specials, hopefully today.

Thanks for all you share with us!
