Make Your Own Homemade Baking Mix

Gone Frugal Homemade Baking Mix People have been enjoying my homemade pancake recipe so much that I wanted to take it a step further during our Freedom from Convenience Foods Month and share with you a recipe for making your own baking mix that works every bit as well as Bisquick or Pioneer Baking Mix except you made it yourself.

In just 10-15 minutes (or less once you get the hang of it) you can put together a baking mix from scratch just like that!  This recipe can be used in any  recipe in place of the commercial baking mix.

INGREDIENTS

    8 cups flour
1 1/4 cups nonfat dry milk powder
    1/4 cup baking powder
    1 Tablespoon sea salt
    2 cups solid vegetable shortening

INSTRUCTIONS

1.  Add all ingredients to a large mixing bowl and mix well using a pastry mixer or by hand until it resembles coarse meal.

Store in a well-sealed container in a cool, dark place.
